Position at Coastal Pacific Food Distributors

The Sushi Operations Manager is responsible for developing and executing sushi category initiatives for 10 military commissary locations and 4 military exchange retail locations.  The Operations Manager is the subject matter expert for sushi category oversight including product sourcing, menu development, product pricing, performance, and merchandising strategies.  The Operations Manager works closely with retail locations to drive sales and lead the category.
Wage Range: $70,000 - $105,000
Duties of a Sushi Operations Manager include:
  • Maintain knowledge of current market trends and insights regarding sushi products and the sushi grab-n-go kiosk business.
  • Create and develop short- and long-term plans for the category & 14 locations.
  • Work with in-country regional managers and sushi department managers to set and achieve goals for production requirements, sales targets, labor requirements, merchandising strategies and salvage targets.
  • Provide sushi making best practices and tips and tricks to optimize operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Achieve category excellence and sales relative to competitors.
  • Lead category management initiatives to promote products, increase sales, and launch new items.
  • Travel to locations overseas in South Korea, Japan and Guam and work alongside sushi managers to provide coaching and training on best practices that improve all aspects of the operation.
  • Develop strong working relationships with sushi managers and regional managers.
  • Identify, develop and cultivate strategies to expand the number of sushi retail operations in target markets.
  • Maintain current HACCP, Sushi Operations manuals and other sushi operations management and operational documents.
The ideal background of a Sushi Operations Manager:
  • Leading and executing sushi kiosk/grab-n-go operations required.  Multiple location experience preferred.
  • Experience maintaining sales, labor and gross profit targets for sushi kiosk business
  • Ability to analyze data and develop conclusions to support category decisions based on data is essential; being good with numbers is essential along with good intuition about the category itself
  • Strong people skills and ability to quickly establish a rapport with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to accommodate irregular and sometimes long hours to communicate with staff in South Korea, Guam and Japan 
  • Ability to speak Korean and/or Tagalog is helpful in this role 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Internet required
